Sedans still make sense for a lot of drivers. You get easier parking, lower running costs than a comparable SUV, and in the K4's case a 14.6 cu. ft. trunk and 38.0 inches of rear legroom, which is competitive space for the class.

Engine and Powertrain Options

The K4 is offered with two engines. LX, LXS, EX, and GT-Line trims use a 2.0L four-cylinder making 147 horsepower, paired with Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission. It runs on regular 87 octane, so there is no premium fuel penalty in your monthly budget.

The GT-Line Turbo steps up to a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, matched to an eight-speed automatic. That torque arrives low, from 1,700 rpm, which is what you notice merging onto I-470 or US-50.

There is a chassis difference worth knowing as well. GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo models use an independent multi-link rear suspension, while LX, LXS, and EX use a coupled torsion beam rear axle.

Technology and Interior

Every K4 comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is not a given at this price point. USB-C data and charging ports are up front, with two more USB-C charging ports for rear passengers.

Moving up the range adds wireless phone charging, Kia Connect, dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays with navigation, Harman Kardon 8-speaker premium audio, Digital Key, multicolor ambient lighting, and a driver memory system. Inside, the K4 measures 42.3 inches of front legroom and 38.0 inches in back, with a 14.6 cu. ft. trunk.

Standard Safety and Driver Assistance

Kia does not reserve the core driver assistance technology for the top trims. Every K4 includes:
